Gran Canaria: The island with no low season

The roundest island in the world receives flights all year round from all over Europe. While other destinations empty out in winter, the south of Gran Canaria (Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Meloneras, Puerto Rico, Mogán) maintains high occupancy twelve months a year. 83% of Million Routes' clients in Gran Canaria book in English: British, Irish, German, and Scandinavian visitors who return season after season.

Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) connects with the island's main tourist areas. The journey to the south usually takes around 20-30 minutes, while reaching Puerto de Mogán or other areas can exceed 50 minutes.

With private transfer, direct arrival without stops.

The GC-1 connects the airport with the south and is the main fast track. The public bus network (Global) covers tourist centers but with limited frequencies in residential areas and resorts away from the main road. Car rental is common among those who want to explore the interior or west coast. For groups or families who don't want to drive, point-to-point private transfer is the most direct option between areas like Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, Puerto Rico or Mogán, without depending on schedules or making connections.

Public bus (Global, lines 66 and 91 to the south, line 60 to Las Palmas, from €2.60 with several stops and up to 90 mins travel); taxi (no fixed price, metered rate); private transfer Million Routes (fixed price before booking, driver waiting at Arrivals, flight tracking, available 24/7). For groups of 4 or more, private transfer is competitive with taxi and fixed price from booking.

Yes, transfers between areas of the island are available without needing to go through the airport. The south to Las Palmas journey is about 55 km on the GC-1 (~45-50 mins). If you want to explore several points on the same day, our hourly driver service allows you to define the itinerary with a fixed price per hours booked.

Based on Million Routes bookings in Gran Canaria, 73% of travelers are groups of 1 to 4 people, covered by a sedan. For groups of 5 to 6 people we recommend a minivan. For groups of 7 and above, minibus. If you're traveling with lots of luggage, surfboards or sports equipment, let us know when booking so we can assign the right vehicle.
