Lanzarote Port Transfers

Cruise ships dock at the Port of Arrecife, in the centre of the capital. The terminal is compact and the exit leads directly onto the Arrecife seafront. Your Million Routes driver will be waiting at the exit with a sign with your name. It's one of the Canary Islands ports where disembarkation is quickest due to the terminal's size.

You can walk. The Charco de San Ginés (the salt-water lagoon in central Arrecife) is less than a 10-minute walk from the terminal, as is the Castillo de San Gabriel. If your plan is to explore Arrecife before heading inland, you won't need a vehicle for the first part of the morning.

There's a taxi rank at the port, but availability is limited when several ships disembark at once. With no fixed price and demand concentrated into a few hours, wait times can be considerable. For trips to Timanfaya, the north or the south of the island, a private transfer booked in advance is the only option that guarantees immediate departure.

Port calls in Lanzarote usually last 8 to 10 hours, with early docking between 7:00-8:00 am. The return time to the ship varies between 5:00-7:00 pm depending on the itinerary. Confirm it before planning: the CACT sites require visiting time and Timanfaya has limited capacity, which can cause waits.

Yes. Access to the National Park is limited by capacity, and in high season tickets sell out days in advance. Booking is done online through the Spanish National Parks system. If you arrive without a booking there's a queue at the ticket office, but access isn't guaranteed. Sort it out before boarding: it's the only advance step that's up to you, not the transfer.

No. Private vehicles don't have access to the interior of the park. The driver drops you at the entrance, you take the park's official bus for the Route of the Volcanoes tour (about 40 minutes) and the driver waits in the car park. Allow around 2 hours in total between arrival, visit and departure.

Yes. Cruise lines confirm port call schedules days in advance. When booking, you indicate the ship's name and approximate disembarkation time. The driver monitors the arrival in real time and adapts if there's any variation in docking. Booking in advance is especially important in Lanzarote if you want to combine several sites in the same day.

Arrecife is the only Canary Islands port where the capital itself is worth visiting right at the dock. In Gran Canaria the centre is further away; in Fuerteventura the capital holds little interest for visitors. Here you can combine Arrecife on foot in the morning with Timanfaya or the CACT sites by transfer in the afternoon, without feeling like you're losing time getting out of the port.
