How to easily find your driver at the airport

How to easily find your driver at the airport

Landing, exiting to arrivals and not knowing where the driver is, is more common than it seems. We explain how to locate them in seconds and start the trip without stress.

You've just landed, collected your bags, crossed the arrivals gates, and found yourselves among dozens of people, signs, and drivers. Which one is yours? It's one of the most stressful situations when arriving at a destination, especially after a long flight or traveling with children.

The good news is that, with a little preparation, finding your driver at the airport can be a matter of seconds. We'll tell you how.

Before you fly: what to have handy

Most of the work is done before leaving home. Check that you have:

  • Your booking confirmation with the time, flight number, and meeting point.
  • The correct flight number in your booking, so the driver can track it in real-time.
  • A contact phone number where they can reach you (and, if traveling from outside the EU, check roaming or have WhatsApp with Wi-Fi).
  • The name that will appear on the sign, usually that of the person who made the booking.

Upon landing: the first steps

As soon as the plane stops and you can use your mobile, activate your data or connect to the airport Wi-Fi. This is when the driver or customer service can send you a message with their exact location or an indication of where they are waiting.

If passport control or baggage claim takes longer, don't worry: with a flight-tracked transfer, the driver already knows what time you landed and accounts for that margin.

The meeting point: where the driver usually waits

At most airports, the driver waits in the arrivals area, just outside baggage claim, with a sign with your name. Some airports have a designated meeting point where transfer services gather.

AirportWhere the meeting point usually is
Gran Canaria (LPA)Arrivals hall, at the exit of the baggage belts
Tenerife South (TFS)Arrivals area, opposite the exit gates
Lanzarote (ACE)Arrivals hall of the corresponding terminal
Fuerteventura (FUE)Arrivals exit, next to the tour operator area

Specific directions may vary depending on the terminal or airport construction, so it's always best to follow the instructions in your confirmation.

If you don't see your driver

Sometimes the exit is very crowded or there are several doors. Before getting stressed:

  • Stay in the arrivals area; do not go out to the taxi stand or the car park.
  • Check your messages and WhatsApp, where there may be instructions from the driver.
  • Call the contact number listed in the booking.
  • Look for the designated meeting point or ask at the information desk.

Why a private transfer makes it easy

One of the advantages of booking a private transfer is that you don't have to look for anything: the driver looks for you. With Million Routes, the driver tracks your flight, waits for you in arrivals with a sign with your name, helps you with your luggage, and takes you directly to your accommodation, with a fixed price and waiting time included.

Frequently asked questions about finding your driver at the airport

Where does the transfer driver wait for me?

Normally in the arrivals area, at the exit of baggage claim, with a sign bearing the booking name. The exact point appears in your confirmation.

What do I do if my flight is delayed?

Nothing. If the flight number is correctly indicated in the booking, the driver tracks the flight in real-time and adjusts the pick-up time automatically.

What if I don't have mobile data upon landing?

Connect to the free airport Wi-Fi to check messages or head to the indicated meeting point. The driver will be waiting for you regardless.

How long does the driver wait?

It depends on the service, but private transfers usually include a free waiting time from the actual landing time to cover disembarkation and baggage claim.
